"Lagniappe is a French Cajun word that means “beyond full measure” or “to give a little extra.” It is best described as the equivalent of giving someone a 13th ear of corn when they only pay for a dozen, but in everything they do.
I learned about the word when creating a story about my friend Roger Crawford, a skilled athlete and motivational speaker. I use the word sparingly in my own personal vocabulary because there are very few who earn the respect of being associated with such an awesome word. So few unfortunately who truly "give a little extra" in all that they do.
Rick Canale, however, is worthy of having the word used when describing him as a friend and a business person. He goes beyond full measure in all he does. He gets it. Why give the maximum when you can give a little bit more than the maximum?
